Vivid Dx Secures $15M to Accelerate Rapid Pathogen Detection
Oxford-based startup Vivid Dx has raised $15 million in seed funding to advance a diagnostic platform that uses AI and Raman spectroscopy to identify drug-resistant infections directly from blood samples, aiming to cut testing times from days to hours for critical patients facing sepsis and other life-threatening conditions.
To oversee this transition from technical proof-of-concept to clinical validation, the company has appointed Keith O'Neill as CEO. O'Neill brings 25 years of experience in diagnostics, including a recent tenure at Novus Diagnostics. The platform has already shown promise in preclinical testing, recording approximately 99% accuracy in pathogen identification and 92% concordance with gold-standard antimicrobial susceptibility testing methods. The company is now preparing to test its technology with patient-derived samples to demonstrate its viability in complex hospital environments.
