The report highlights IDrive e2’s performance across 12 distinct workload configurations. In testing, IDrive e2 reached a peak upload throughput of 1,879.48 MiB/s using a 10-thread configuration with 100 MiB objects. While IDrive led in upload throughput across all tested categories, Backblaze B2 outperformed it in download metrics within three specific lower-concurrency scenarios involving 5 MiB and 50 MiB objects.
IDrive Releases 2026 Object Storage Performance Benchmark
With cloud infrastructure demands shifting toward AI and high-concurrency workloads, IDrive has released its 2026 Object Storage Performance Report. The study evaluates throughput and latency across major S3-compatible providers, including AWS S3, Backblaze, Wasabi, and Cloudflare R2, aiming to provide a standardized metric for enterprise storage selection.

Operational latency data reveals that IDrive e2 maintains a 9.8 ms average HEAD request latency and a 14 ms average Time to First Byte during LIST operations. Regarding stability, AWS S3 demonstrated the highest consistency, recording a 6.7% coefficient of variation in run-to-run testing, compared to 11.5% for IDrive e2. Raghavendra Prasad Meeniga, Vice President of Technology at IDrive, noted that the benchmarks were designed to move beyond single-metric reliance, emphasizing real-world scenarios across varying object sizes and concurrency levels. To ensure transparency, the company has made its testing methodology and configuration data public, though it cautions that results are derived from a single client location and exclude factors like pricing or long-term durability.
