The acquisition of the Charleston-based firm adds a significant footprint in the Lowcountry and Coastal Carolinas to Banko’s portfolio. Founded by Leon Leggett and Steve Borders, Southeastern Garage Doors has spent over 25 years establishing relationships with local home builders and homeowners. The company will maintain its existing team and operational standards in North Charleston and Bluffton, now backed by the additional resources of the Florida-based parent company.
Banko Overhead Doors Expands Into South Carolina
Florida-based Banko Overhead Doors has acquired Charleston-based Southeastern Garage Doors, marking the company’s first expansion outside its home state. The deal unites the Tampa firm with a business that has served the South Carolina coast since 1999, signaling Banko’s broader strategy to consolidate the Southeast’s residential garage door market.

Banko CEO Michael Alfano noted that the decision to acquire the business was driven by a strong alignment in corporate values. For Leggett and Borders, the partnership represents a long-term plan to secure the future of the company they built from the ground up. Banko, a portfolio company of Blue Ridge Construction Capital, is actively seeking further acquisitions of founder-led firms across the region, aiming to become the premier provider of garage door services in the Southeast. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
