Starting with a midsize electric pickup truck slated for 2027, Ford will embed Apple Maps directly into its Universal Electric Vehicle Platform. This move shifts navigation away from a reliance on tethered smartphones, embedding real-time traffic, natural language guidance, and intelligent battery preconditioning into the vehicle's native software core.
While this software rollout progresses, Ford’s Latitude AI division maintains its focus on a separate, more ambitious goal: an eyes-off, unsupervised driving system. That technology is currently projected for a 2028 debut, as the company balances near-term platform updates with long-term autonomous development.
