Viam Launches Free Robotics Education Program for Software Engineers
Over 800 developers have already signed up for Viam Education, a new suite of free courses and hackathons designed to bridge the gap between software engineering and physical hardware. Led by SVP Shannon Bradshaw, the initiative aims to simplify robotics development through self-paced training and hands-on simulation tools.
Viam, founded in 2020 by MongoDB co-founder Eliot Horowitz, is positioning itself as a software-first solution for automation across industries ranging from manufacturing to marine logistics. Beyond self-paced modules, the initiative includes live events and hackathons, such as the upcoming "Hello, Robot!" collaboration with SPC. Developers who register for the program by July 31 are eligible for a giveaway featuring a UFactory Lite 6 robotic arm, valued at $3,500. Interested participants can access the curriculum and event schedule directly through the company’s portal.
