Philippe Morel Named CEO of IDnow to Lead European Identity Expansion

Philippe Morel has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of IDnow, taking the helm as the Munich-based firm shifts from traditional identity verification to a broader trust-based model. He succeeds Andreas Bodczek, who oversaw a seven-year expansion that transformed the company into a key player in European digital security.

Morel arrives with three decades of experience in financial services and technology, most recently serving as CEO of the embedded finance platform Railsr. His background includes a tenure as CEO of the blockchain infrastructure firm SETL and a lengthy career as a Senior Partner at Boston Consulting Group, where he specialized in capital markets and private equity. His appointment coincides with the launch of the IDnow Trust Platform, a suite of services designed to help regulated organizations manage identity, fraud prevention, and biometric authentication across the entire customer lifecycle.

The transition marks the end of a transformative era under Bodczek, who led the company through its shift to private equity ownership and orchestrated the acquisitions of identity Trust Management AG and ARIADNEXT. These moves expanded IDnow's footprint across Europe and established the technical foundation for its current portfolio. As the industry faces new regulatory pressures from AMLR, eIDAS 2.0, and the rise of digital identity wallets, Morel plans to prioritize direct engagement with customers and partners to refine the firm's growth strategy.
