Apple Prepares MacBook Neo Refresh with A19 Pro Chip

Apple is developing an updated MacBook Neo, signaling a shift toward the A19 Pro processor and increased memory capacity. Following the budget laptop's initial market success, the company is looking to refine the hardware, though supply chain constraints and potential configuration changes suggest a higher entry price for consumers.

Mark Gurman reports that the upcoming iteration will transition from the current A18 Pro chip to the A19 Pro, the same architecture powering the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air. This performance boost is expected to coincide with a memory upgrade, moving from 8GB to 12GB of RAM. Beyond internal specifications, Apple is exploring new color options to maintain the device's market momentum.

Financial accessibility remains a concern as component shortages pressure production costs. Apple may offset these expenses by eliminating the entry-level 256GB storage tier, effectively raising the starting price for the product line. This strategy aligns with recent company-wide price adjustments observed across the broader hardware catalog. Looking ahead, the company is also prioritizing display innovation, with plans to introduce OLED screens to the iMac lineup and future MacBook Pro models, alongside a redesigned 14-inch base model featuring the M7 chip.
