Philips Upgrades Sonicare With Real-Time AI Brushing Feedback

A glowing ring and a built-in touchscreen define the new Sonicare DiamondClean 9900 Prestige, Philips’ latest attempt to gamify oral hygiene. By deploying a third-generation AI model, the brush maps the mouth into 12 distinct segments, signaling exactly where users fall short during their daily routine.

The device tracks movement throughout the brushing process, displaying results on a touchscreen that highlights missed areas in orange. Beyond simple tracking, the brush features eight cleaning modes, ranging from sensitive care to max clean. To prevent gum damage, the base of the handle illuminates when users apply excessive pressure, while onboard sensors automatically throttle the motor intensity to protect sensitive tissue.

While Philips has yet to confirm a retail price, the 9900 Prestige will likely exceed the $430 price tag associated with its predecessors. The toothbrush is scheduled for an initial release in the United States and Europe this fall, with a broader international launch planned for 2027.
