Samsung Unpacked 2026: Foldables and Watches Get Major Upgrades
Samsung’s summer Unpacked event introduced a sweeping refresh of its mobile ecosystem, anchored by the redesigned Galaxy Z Fold 8 and a new Ultra tier. The lineup, which also includes the updated Z Flip 8 and two new Galaxy Watch models, signals a refined approach to hardware and health-tracking features.
Samsung also updated the Z Flip 8, which gains the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and expanded cover-display functionality, though it enters the market at a higher $1,199 price point. On the wearable front, the Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 debut the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite processor. Samsung is pushing into preventative health with four new metrics: Vitals, Heart Health Score, Daily Cardio Load, and Fitness Index. The Watch Ultra 2 stands out with an 800mAh battery offering 60 hours of life, though both watch lines see price increases of $30 and $50 respectively. Beyond its own hardware, Samsung hosted Google to showcase new smartglasses frames developed in partnership with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, ahead of a broader launch later this year.
