At the Farnborough International Airshow, Ottawa-based Gastops marked a major industrial achievement by delivering its 20,000th MetalSCAN sensor to the aerospace sector. This milestone unit, destined for the Pratt & Whitney F135 engine program, underscores three decades of growth in predictive maintenance and engine health monitoring technology.

MetalSCAN sensors identify metallic wear debris within lubricated systems, allowing maintenance crews to shift from scheduled overhauls to condition-based strategies. By providing real-time data on engine health, these sensors help operators increase equipment readiness and reduce lifecycle expenditures. Daniel Obedi, Vice President of Aerospace Platforms at Gastops, noted that the company continues to evolve its portfolio by integrating complementary solutions like ChipCHECK to support both defense and commercial fleets. While the aerospace division reaches this 20,000-unit threshold, the company maintains a broader footprint, having supplied over 50,000 sensors across marine, energy, and industrial sectors since its founding.
