Twitch launches parental controls to restrict teen broadcasts

The Family Center dashboard, located within Account Settings, acts as a command hub for these oversight functions. Beyond disabling broadcast capabilities, parents can now set daily time limits across all devices and filter content based on specific classification labels. This includes blocking access to feeds containing gambling, sexual themes, or mature-rated gaming content. Additionally, the platform allows for the total deactivation of Whispers, Twitch’s private direct messaging feature, to mitigate risks associated with unwanted contact.

These restrictions remain in effect until the user turns 18, at which point the account automatically unlinks from parental oversight. While the platform currently maintains these settings as optional, the integration marks a shift toward greater accountability for minor safety. Twitch stated that it intends to expand these features as part of its ongoing efforts to curate a more controlled environment for younger users.
