The appointment follows the departure of Niklas Heuveldop, who has led the division since early 2024. Heuveldop, a 33-year veteran of the Swedish telecommunications giant, will remain available through the end of 2026 to ensure a smooth transition. Ericsson CEO Börje Ekholm credited Heuveldop with successfully restructuring Vonage and securing major contracts, including a notable USD 14 billion deal with AT&T during his tenure as head of the North American market.
Christophe Van de Weyer Named CEO of Vonage in Ericsson Shuffle
Ericsson has appointed Christophe Van de Weyer as the new head of its Global Communications Platform business and CEO of Vonage, marking a leadership transition aimed at sustaining the unit's recent growth. Van de Weyer, formerly head of Vonage’s API unit, will join the company’s executive team effective August 15.
Van de Weyer brings a background in consulting and executive leadership to the role, having previously served as CEO of Telesign and as a partner at Bain & Company. His primary objective is to accelerate Ericsson's strategy of integrating AI and programmable network APIs to transform enterprise workflows. The company is currently focused on scaling profitable growth within the Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) sector, a core component of its broader digital transformation efforts.
