Emora Health Expands Family-Centric Mental Health Care to Parents

Pediatric therapy often fails because it ignores the environment where a child spends 167 hours of their week. Austin-based Emora Health is shifting that dynamic by launching dedicated, clinician-led therapy for parents, aiming to stabilize the entire household unit rather than treating the child in isolation.

Emora Health Expands Family-Centric Mental Health Care to Parents

For years, the mental health industry has treated children while leaving parents to navigate the fallout alone, offering little more than generic coaching. Emora Health, a company founded in 2023, is moving to close this gap by providing parents with their own licensed clinicians whose work is synchronized with their child's existing care team. This creates a unified system where therapy, psychiatry, and psychological testing for family members are no longer siloed.

Dr. Andi Diaz Stransky, a child and adolescent psychiatrist advising the company, emphasizes that parents act as the primary agents of change in a child's recovery. By investing in the mental well-being of the adults, the firm seeks to ensure that progress made in a clinical setting is supported at home. Founder and CEO Edmond Coku notes that the model was built from the ground up to treat the family as an interconnected system, rather than forcing individuals to seek fragmented care across different providers.

The platform, which currently serves families in 11 states, simplifies the administrative burden for pediatricians and school counselors by allowing a single referral to cover the entire family. With a network of clinicians supporting conditions such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD, the company reports that 90% of its clients pay $30 or less per session through major insurance plans. By automating clinical workflows, the team aims to remove the logistical barriers that typically keep parents from accessing the support they need to maintain their own health.
