The rapid accumulation of flight data highlights the expanding footprint of the distress tracking system across global aviation. Since the first unit entered revenue service in May 2025, the platform has been integrated across Boeing’s 737, 787, and 777 families. According to ACR Electronics, the system now supports between 2,500 and 3,000 departures daily, translating to an ELT 5000-equipped aircraft taking off somewhere in the world every 30 to 40 seconds.
ARTEX ELT 5000 Reaches One Million Flight Hours Milestone
A single piece of emergency tracking technology is now logging flight time at an unprecedented rate, with ACR Electronics confirming its ARTEX ELT 5000 platform surpassed one million flight hours just over a year after its initial entry into commercial service on the Boeing 737.
Jeff Geraci, Vice President and General Manager of ARTEX, noted that the milestone reflects both the reliability of the hardware and the confidence airlines place in current safety mandates. The equipment is now active on every inhabited continent, with growth driven by both factory-installed new production and ongoing retrofit programs for existing fleets. As regulators continue to push for advanced Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS) compliance, the ELT 5000 has secured a primary role in the current commercial aviation safety landscape.
