Pratt & Whitney Validates 3D-Printed TJ150 Engine
At the Farnborough International Airshow, Pratt & Whitney confirmed the successful demonstration of its TJ150 engine, a milestone achieved by constructing nearly 60 percent of the unit through additive manufacturing. The test focused on verifying material durability and performance for expendable engines under intense operational conditions.

Jill Albertelli, president of Military Engines at Pratt & Whitney, noted that the lessons learned from the TJ150 project are already being applied to the broader Valox engine family. These investments in additive manufacturing represent a strategic push to enhance scalability and production flexibility. The demonstration confirms that the hardware can meet mission requirements, providing a blueprint for future engine development within the RTX portfolio.
