The agreement centers on the JFC I facility in Jorf Lasfar, which currently produces 1.2 million metric tons annually. This move deepens a collaboration that began in 2022 with the creation of Kofert, a joint venture involving JFC III. By integrating JFC I into their shared portfolio, the companies aim to streamline production within the world’s largest phosphate fertilizer platform.
Koch and OCP Form Second Joint Venture to Boost Fertilizer Supply
A 50/50 partnership between Koch Ag & Energy Solutions and OCP Nutricrops will soon control Jorf Fertilizers Company I, a major production facility in Morocco. This deal doubles the entities' combined annual capacity to 2.5 million metric tons of phosphate-based fertilizers, targeting supply reliability for global agricultural markets.

For North American farmers, the timing is strategic. The U.S. administration recently suspended countervailing duties on Moroccan phosphate imports, clearing a path for these products to reach domestic soil. Scott McGinn, president of Koch Fertilizer, noted that the investment expands their phosphate offerings, while OCP Nutricrops CEO Faris Derrij emphasized that the venture secures long-term agricultural value chains. The transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals before finalizing the operational shift.
