Dearie Law Group Joins Legal Action Against OB-GYN Mark Mulholland

More than 100 women have now joined a mounting legal battle against Richland-based OB-GYN Mark Mulholland and the Providence-Kadlec health system. The litigation, now bolstered by the addition of Seattle-based Dearie Law Group, centers on a pattern of alleged sexual abuse and non-consensual medical procedures spanning over two decades.

The lawsuits, filed in King County Superior Court, detail a series of grave allegations against Mulholland, who served as a physician at Associated Physicians for Women and Providence-Kadlec from 1999 until July 2025. Plaintiffs report a history of unauthorized surgeries, including forced C-sections and the removal of fallopian tubes without patient knowledge. Among the most harrowing claims is the performance of the "husband stitch," an unnecessary postpartum procedure intended for a partner’s sexual gratification rather than maternal health, alongside reports of non-consensual rectal penetration.

In April 2025, the Washington Medical Commission formally charged Mulholland, citing a consistent pattern of conduct that failed to meet basic standards of care and ignored professional boundaries. Tamara Holder, who founded the firm leading the litigation, stated that the collaboration with Ray Dearie and his team is essential to holding the defendants accountable for allegedly turning a blind eye to the physician's conduct. Dearie Law Group brings significant trial resources to the case, following a 2024 period that saw the firm secure multiple high-profile verdicts, including a $130 million judgment in a wrongful death case.
