The dogs, which include several larger breeds, arrived at the Nashville-based center for comprehensive veterinary evaluations and rehabilitation. Executive Director Tim Woodward noted that the larger animals may require extended care, as placement options for them are currently more restricted than for smaller breeds. The organization plans to leverage its network of partners in regions with higher adoption demand to secure permanent homes for the group.
Animal Rescue Corps relocates 34 dogs from overcrowded Arkansas facility
Thirty-four dogs are settling into the Animal Rescue Corps facility outside Nashville this week following a rural Arkansas rescue operation. The transfer marks the beginning of a larger effort to alleviate capacity strain at a remote shelter where adoption opportunities have dwindled, leaving these animals in need of urgent intervention.

This mission, dubbed Operation Arkansas Angels, represents the first in a series of planned deployments to assist the facility. Woodward emphasized that the organization remains committed to responding to diverse needs, ranging from mass rescues of small breeds to complex hoarding interventions. Since 2010, the nonprofit has focused on providing large-scale relief for communities lacking the resources to handle animal welfare crises. Woodward, a 2025 CNN Hero finalist, continues to coordinate these efforts across state lines to maintain the group's mission of direct, compassionate action.
