The partnership cements a relationship that began in 2003, when CB&I’s Asset Solutions team first took over duty holder operations for the offshore hub. Since then, the team has supported various operators, including Centrica and Venture, before EnQuest assumed control in 2014. The platform serves as a vital production center for the Greater Kittiwake Area, utilizing subsea tie-backs to maintain output.
CB&I Secures Kittiwake Platform Duty Holder Role Through Decommissioning
After more than two decades of managing the Kittiwake platform in the North Sea, CB&I has secured a contract extension with EnQuest. The deal shifts the firm’s responsibility beyond late-life asset management, tasking the team with overseeing the platform through to final cessation of production and eventual decommissioning.

Operational success on the asset has been defined by a consistent safety record, with the team logging over 20 years without a lost time incident. This longevity has allowed for the optimization of late-life performance, extending the platform's viability. John Pearson, Chief Operating Officer of CB&I Asset Solutions, noted that while the transition to decommissioning marks the end of the asset's life, the firm remains committed to its longstanding partnership with EnQuest. John Telford, Kittiwake Asset Manager at EnQuest, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the "one team" approach that has defined their collaborative efforts to ensure safe and efficient operations as the project enters its final phase.
