The early access version is currently restricted to AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers using Beta, Dev, or Canary builds of Chrome. Google integrates Gemini directly into the Chrome browser
Navigating the web now includes an AI companion that monitors your active tab. By clicking the Gemini button in the top-right corner of Chrome, users can query the assistant about the content displayed on their current page, marking a shift toward more interactive, agent-driven browser experiences.
Limitations remain clear during daily use. The assistant only interprets what is currently rendered on the screen; for instance, hidden content like expanded comment threads requires manual interaction before the AI can analyze them. While the interface follows users across tabs, it maintains a single-page focus at any given time. For those preferring vocal interaction, the Live feature remains accessible via the dialogue box, signaling Google’s intent to move beyond static chatbots toward a more fluid, context-aware web assistant.
