Laura Chaubard to Lead Sopra Steria’s Defence and Space Division

Laura Chaubard, the former Director General of École Polytechnique and a General Engineer of Armament, will assume leadership of Sopra Steria’s Defence, Security and Space vertical on September 1, 2026. Her appointment signals a shift toward bolstering European technological sovereignty amid surging regional military spending.

Joining the Group Executive Committee, Chaubard takes the helm of a division that generated 13% of Sopra Steria’s total revenue in 2025. Her mandate focuses on steering the company’s strategic partnerships with armed forces and critical infrastructure providers, a sector currently undergoing its most significant expansion in three decades. The firm is positioning itself as a primary alternative to non-European providers for command, intelligence, and cybersecurity systems.

This leadership change follows a series of aggressive expansions. In May 2026, the group finalized the acquisitions of Starion and Nexova, moves designed to solidify its footprint in secure space applications and data processing. These assets complement the existing capabilities of CS Group, the company’s subsidiary specialized in critical system integration. CEO Rajesh Krishnamurthy noted that the appointment reflects the company’s commitment to matching its strategic ambitions with high-level expertise, marking the division as a primary engine for growth in the coming years.
