Brigham Nurses and MGB Clinicians Prepare to End Historic Strikes

The largest nurse strike and lockout in Massachusetts history concludes Monday at 6:59 a.m. as Brigham and Women’s Hospital staff participate in a solidarity walk-in. Meanwhile, MGB Home Care clinicians remain on the picket line until Tuesday, when they plan to gather at the system's headquarters to mark their own strike's conclusion.

Nurses at Brigham and Women’s Hospital will gather before dawn on July 13 to drop their picket signs at 75 Francis St. Those scheduled for the morning shift will head directly inside to resume patient care, while colleagues and supporters remain outside in a show of unity. This transition marks the official end of a protracted labor dispute that has defined the summer for the hospital system.

Following the Brigham return, focus shifts to the 450-member MGB Home Care bargaining unit. These clinicians, including physical therapists, social workers, and registered nurses, are set to conclude their seven-day strike with a 2 p.m. rally on Tuesday at 399 Revolution Dr. in Somerville. They expect to be joined by elected officials and community members to highlight ongoing demands for a fair contract. Both groups have signaled their intent to continue negotiations with Mass General Brigham until final resolutions are secured.
