The IGBC Platinum-certified property, which features 71 villas including the expansive four-bedroom Sunbeam Presidential Villa, serves as a centerpiece for the brand’s nature-led portfolio. CEO Anuraag Bhatnagar described the move as a milestone in the company’s push toward destinations that integrate local Kodava heritage and landscape rhythms into the core guest experience.
The Leela Rebrands Coorg Retreat as Forest Sanctuary
Seventy-six acres of ancient forest and coffee plantations in the Western Ghats now define The Leela’s latest identity. The luxury hospitality brand has officially unveiled The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary, a rebranding of its recent acquisition that prioritizes deep immersion in the region’s biodiversity over traditional resort-style stays.

Beyond the architecture, the retreat integrates a 27,000-square-foot wellness center and a seven-acre lake. Curated guest activities range from plantation trails and birdwatching to the 'Estate to Brew' experience, which highlights the property's history as one of Coorg’s oldest coffee estates. Dining options, including the lakefront Luma and the coffee-focused 92 Degrees, further anchor the resort in local terroir. The rebranding arrives as The Leela continues to expand its footprint, aiming to marry its signature 'True Indian Luxury' philosophy with the slow-paced, environmentally conscious travel currently shaping the high-end hospitality market.
