Código 1530 Debuts Rare 15-Year Extra Añejo Tequila

With a global production run capped at just 350 bottles, Código 1530 is pushing the boundaries of ultra-premium spirits. The brand’s new 15-Year Extra Añejo, priced at $4,100, represents a significant departure from standard aging practices, blending deep maturation with a specialized double-barrel finishing process.

The tequila spends 15 years in French white oak Cabernet barrels before a final six-month rest in French Cognac casks. This prolonged exposure creates a deep red-amber hue and a profile defined by notes of toasted oak, vanilla, and dark cacao. Federico Vaughn, co-founder of the brand, describes the spirit as a testament to patience, noting that the liquid was held in barrels until it reached its peak maturity rather than adhering to a fixed calendar.

Each 750mL bottle is sold as part of a luxury set that includes two crystal tasting glasses, a decanter with a gold-plated stopper, and a certificate of authenticity. Bottled at 40% ABV, the expression is currently rolling out to select retailers in the United States and international markets, targeting collectors who prioritize scarcity and traditional production methods sourced from Amatitán, Jalisco.
