Seegene Launches Million-Case Global Study to Standardize PCR Testing

Seegene has initiated the Global Million Clinical Study, an ambitious project spanning one million test cases designed to establish new international benchmarks for disease-specific diagnostics. By leveraging real-world data across diverse healthcare environments, the company aims to move beyond conventional targeted testing toward comprehensive syndromic PCR methodologies.

The project, which begins in South Korea before expanding to international healthcare institutions, utilizes the STAgora™ analytics platform to track pathogen prevalence and infection trends. By capturing data on co-infections, genotypes, and seasonal patterns that often elude traditional testing, the initiative seeks to quantify the clinical value of multi-pathogen detection. Seegene’s focus initially centers on respiratory, gastrointestinal, and reproductive tract infections, aiming to provide evidence-based insights that transcend current regional variations in testing protocols and reimbursement policies.

Dr. Jong-Yoon Chun, CEO and founder of Seegene, described the project as a move to shift the global diagnostic paradigm. He noted that while advanced PCR technology exists, its application remains fragmented by national clinical guidelines. The study intends to bridge this gap by compiling scientific evidence that supports a more uniform, high-quality diagnostic standard worldwide. This effort follows the company’s recent recognition as one of TIME’s "World's Most Impactful Companies of 2026," acknowledging its push to address high-priority global health challenges. The initiative is strictly an evidence-generation program and does not provide direct medical advice or diagnostic guidance.
