The expansion follows an initial trial where Crestwell utilized Convr’s Intake module to handle the heavy lifting of processing submissions. Previously, experienced staff spent significant time manually sorting through documents, a process that hindered high-level decision-making. By automating the ingestion and classification of PDFs, Excel files, and emails, the firm successfully filtered out submissions that fell outside their risk criteria.
Crestwell Underwriters Scales Automation with Convr Partnership
Chicago-based Crestwell Underwriters is scaling its adoption of Convr’s commercial insurance platform, moving beyond basic intake to integrate automated risk scoring. The specialty property insurer aims to cut manual review times and sharpen focus on risks that align with its specific underwriting appetite for condominium and homeowners associations.

Now, the integration includes Convr Scores, which provides underwriters with a data-driven view to prioritize active opportunities. According to Paul DiFrancesco, Chief Underwriting Officer at Crestwell, the shift directly addresses the friction in the submission lifecycle. John Stammen, CEO of Convr, noted that the collaboration reflects a broader industry push to replace legacy workflows with digitized, consistent decision-making tools. The move allows Crestwell to increase its processing volume while maintaining consistent standards for its broker partners.
