The schedule features a 6:00 a.m. departure from Ontario, arriving in Chicago at 12:15 p.m., with the return leg departing O’Hare at 6:15 p.m. to reach Southern California by 8:48 p.m.
American Airlines Launches Daily Ontario-Chicago Service in December
Starting December 17, 2026, American Airlines will connect Southern California to the Midwest with a new daily nonstop route between Ontario International Airport and Chicago O'Hare. The expansion marks a decade of growth for the carrier at the Ontario hub, where flight volume has climbed 25% since 2016.
Alan D. Wapner, president of the Ontario International Airport Authority, characterized the move as a reflection of growing regional demand. The new route adds competition to an existing market currently served by United Airlines and deepens the airport’s connectivity to American’s global network, which already includes hubs in Dallas-Fort Worth, Charlotte, and Phoenix. This addition coincides with the tenth anniversary of the airport’s transition to local ownership, a period during which seat capacity on American Airlines flights out of Ontario has surged by 66%.
