Honeycomb Aeronautical shrinks the cockpit into a handheld controller

For pilots constrained by desk space, the cockpit is about to shrink to the size of a console gamepad. Honeycomb Aeronautical’s upcoming Echo Aviation Controller packs throttle levers, a trim wheel, and rudder paddles into a compact peripheral designed to turn any PC setup into a functional flight station.

Slated for a mid-December 2025 release at $149.99, the device bridges the gap between bulky flight yokes and standard gaming controllers. The hardware features a thumbstick and action buttons on the left, while the right side houses four throttle levers and a trim wheel for altitude management. According to Calum Martin of FSElite, the controller supports USB-C wired connections and wireless play via a dedicated dongle, ensuring compatibility with platforms like Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The design prioritizes hands-on navigation by offloading complex inputs from the keyboard to the controller’s chassis. The underside houses toggles for landing gear, flaps, and parking brakes, while the rear features sliding paddles that mimic rudder pedals for ground steering. Each unit ships with a hardshell carrying case and a set of interchangeable caps for the throttle levers, allowing users to customize the tactile layout to match their specific control remappings.
